The Three Peaks Challenge

Mark Hughes – Foresight’s Head of Operations – was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer.  The cancer appeared one week and was so aggressive that it resulted in Mark being fast-tracked through our wonderful NHS system which enabled him to be treated within 4 weeks.   A 10-hour operation followed, and he is now going through the gruelling experience of 30 Radiotherapy sessions.  Mark is doing well but is starting to feel the effects of this treatment.

We are supporting Mark in every way we can but, as you can appreciate, this has been a worrying and extremely upsetting time for the Foresight team.   We all genuinely like and care for each other and can’t wait for Mark to get well enough again so that we can see his smiley face back in the office.

The team wanted to support Mark and his situation in a positive way, so they have decided to participate in the Yorkshire Dales 3-Peak Challenge in support of Mark and in aid of the Mouth Cancer Foundation.

The walk will take place on Saturday 5th October with a very early start of 4:45 am – so, fingers crossed that the weather is OK!  Unfortunately, Simon and I will be away that weekend, so we have decided to donate instead, to what has now become a heartfelt cause.

We realise that everyone has charities that they give to, but mouth cancer is becoming more and more common.  The aggressiveness with which this illness took Mark from a healthy individual to requiring such radical treatment was frightening, but the way he has been treated has also been inspiring.   With extra research, future sufferers can look forward to an even brighter future, so we wanted to allow our clients to help us raise money for this worthwhile cause.

The link for those that would like to participate is:

The money goes directly to the charity and Just Giving does not take any additional fees as the Mouth Cancer Foundation already has a membership with Just Giving.

I text Mark at least once a week to see how he is getting on, and he is happy for me to share his story.  He is looking forward to hearing how the team got on but most of all… Mark, we can’t wait for you to be well again – you’ve got this!
